Futurhythmachine (F-RM) [v.2xxx] is a proposal for a new kind of drum machine - and way of playing. Rather than generating rhythms from scratch, the F-RM reveals those already embedded in the spaces we move through. It listens beneath the surface, extracting subsonic residues absorbed by us over time. In doing so, it becomes the host of a cybernetic loop - where we influence the environment, and the environment, in turn, writes itself into us.

In music, rhythm always comes first. It defines the vibe, anchors the genre, and guides the evolution of sound. The F-RM takes this principle further, inviting us to listen not just forward, but inward and outward at once - to perceive the inherited pulses. These come from our surroundings, transmitted through rapidly shifting [Imp]ulses: invisible narratives, spatial tensions, urban imprints. The F-RM catches these Imps at their peak, seizing their rhythmic potential before they dissolve.

The F-RM doesn’t impose. It simply prepares us. It offers a framework - a protocol - for sensing what’s next. Only preparing us so that when that future arrives, we’ll be ready.

Because rhythm always comes first - and always returns.
